Sandra Silva, the Executive Manager of Interreg Atlantic Area, spoke today about opportunities for public and private institutions to cooperate in the blue economy sector. Invited by the partners of the TRANSATLANTIC project to participate in a webinar about “Tools to support the Transatlantic cooperation on blue economy”, Sandra Silva presented the performance of Interreg Atlantic Area and the opportunities to support new partnerships under call 3.

This call intends to select high-quality transnational projects in which relevant organisations cooperate to make regions more resilient to common challenges that know no borders and cannot be solved alone and it covers the priorities of Blue innovation and competitiveness, Blue/Green environment, and Blue sustainable and social tourism & culture.

Each priority previews the support of specific objectives like reaping the benefits of digitalization, promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, and promoting the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy.

The Transatlantic project has been launched by CEIMAR (ES), Forum Oceano (PT) and CPMR Atlantic Arch, in close cooperation with the Region of Wales and the Province of Québec. It is an initiative funded by the European Parliament of an experimental nature and supported by DG REGIO, European Commission.
