The transnational cooperation brochure of Interreg has been published! This brochure is the result of a joint effort involving Interreg Atlantic Area and 12 other transnational Interreg programmes, with the support of Interact, showing the importance of transnational cooperation today. It offers concrete examples of projects that are making a difference and provides strategic insights into how these programmes contribute to the broader goals of Cohesion Policy and the EU.
Interreg Atlantic Area has contributed to the brochure by highlighting the Atlic project, which is focused on creating the Atlantic Innovation Blue Community network. This network aims to enhance entrepreneurship and employment opportunities, strengthening regional collaboration in the Atlantic Area.
Why Transnational Cooperation Matters
In today’s rapidly changing world, transnational cooperation is essential to addressing complex socio-economic and environmental challenges that extend beyond cross-border cooperation. Through partnerships among regions, cities, industries and research institutions, Interreg transnational programmes strengthen solidarity, synergy, and impactful change across Europe and beyond.
This new brochure highlights how transnational projects promote regional cohesion, economic growth, and sustainable development, ensuring that no territory is left behind.
Three key messages from the Brochure:
- Solidarity Beyond Borders – Transnational projects promote cooperation between regions, reinforcing European integration and uniting people around a shared goal.
- Synergies for all Territories – These initiatives bring together expertise from different sectors, resulting in more efficient solutions through knowledge exchange and collaboration.
- Delivering Change - By supporting green and digital transitions, these projects offer innovative solutions with a real-world impact.
Cohesion Policy should invest in transnational cooperation as a strategic tool for European integration. The roadmap for further cooperation reflects the collective ambition of the 13 transnational programmes, working toward a more cohesive and innovative Europe.
