According to the rules of Procedure of the 2021-2027 Interreg Atlantic Area Monitoring Committee, Ireland is the next Member State appointed to chair the body. The Monitoring Committee is the main decision-making body of the Interreg Atlantic Area and it is composed of representatives of the four Member States and regions, authorities of the Programme, representatives of other administrations and organised civil society as advisory members.
The Chair shall convene the Monitoring Committee at least once a year or at the written request of one or more of its members. In 2025 this task is committed to the Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA), the Irish institution representing Ireland in the body.
NWRA is one of three Regional Assemblies in the Republic of Ireland. The institution works with key stakeholders at European, national, regional and local levels to accelerate and optimise effective regional development.
