In a collaboration between the Center for Euroregional Studies Galicia - Northern Portugal Foundation (CEER) and the University of Santiago de Compostela, the launch event for the ATLANTIC SUNSET project took place on January 9th, at the Faculty of Geography and History. The project is in response to the first call of the Interreg Atlantic Area 2021-2027.
Led by the CEER Foundation, the ATLANTIC SUNSET project aims to showcase the beauty of Atlantic sunsets and identify and boost the value of local resources associated with the sun, turning them into heritage attractions.
The event focused on the public presentation of the project and the sharing of key details while coordinating efforts among the involved partners. The morning session featured an institutional panel presentation to the public and media, followed by a round table where project partners outlined their roles and competencies. In the afternoon, a closed session allowed partners to conduct a technical kickoff meeting, addressing the activities for the upcoming months. This event presented a unique opportunity for those interested in the tourism potential of natural and cultural resources.
The ATLANTIC SUNSET aims to redefine the economic development narrative for the Atlantic coast of Western Europe, offering an alternative approach to traditional tourism. The focus is on temporal and spatial complementarity, social inclusion, and social innovation, providing a fresh perspective on sustainable development. The consortium has seven partners and ten associated partners, and a total budget of 1.3 million euros to be implemented by 2026.
