The Association of Irish Regions promotes on February 5th-6th 2025 in Athlone (Westmeath) an annual training seminar about evolving governance, European and place-based policies, and planning space.

Ten years after restructuring the regional development and the introduction of three Regional Assemblies – all three regions are covered by the Interreg Atlantic Area, the seminar will discuss how regions play a leadership role in supporting the delivery of national objectives and are at the forefront of best practices.

“The Assemblies have become vehicles for both securing and brokering critical investment, strategic policy-making and are key advocates for their constituent communities (both urban and rural)”, states the Association of Irish Regions.

The seminar has the participation of speakers from European, National, and Regional levels including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Irish Seanad.
