EBB-European Blue Biotechnology project awarded in the Atlantic Project Awards 2018

This ceremony took place during the 5th Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference held on the 23-24 October 2018 in Vigo

The EBB project (European Blue Biotechnology), a project co-financed by Interreg Atlantic Area, is the winner of 'Atlantic Marine and Coastal Environment' category at the 3rd edition of the Atlantic Project Awards 2018.

This ceremony took place during the 5th Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference held on the 23-24 October 2018 in Vigo and is designed to honour outstanding success stories achieved by projects in the Atlantic Area. The European Commission recognizes, through various categories, the best initiatives aligned with the priorities of the Atlantic Strategy and its action plan in areas such as entrepreneurship and innovation, marine environment and coastal Atlantic, accessibility, connectivity and sustainability and international cooperation.

The EBB project coordinated by University of Vigo is the first global initiative proposing transnational coordination at the practical and long-term level of marine biobanks, thus helping to make a European initiative, the European Center for Marine Biological Resources (EMBRC), a global reference for the study of marine biology and ecology.

EBB is composed by 12 partners of the 5 Member States and has a total budget of 2M€, being 1.5M€ ERDF funding.
