Highlights of the Interreg Atlantic Area annual event

Around 190 participants hosted in Vigo to discuss blue innovation in the Atlantic regions

The Atlantic Area annual event, this year under the thematic of the blue innovation as a main engine for sustainable growth in the Atlantic Area, gathered on the 22 October in Vigo several representatives of the economic, education and research sectors, as well as local, regional, national and European bodies.

A first session was dedicated to the programme current statuswhich recently approved more 27 cooperation projects, and its contribution to the Atlantic Strategy enhancing the importance of a better geographic and thematic alignment in the future. In a second session, projects with a high innovative component - ATLANTICKETMED, NASPA, BLUEPORTS, MYCOAST and OCEANWISE - were invited to a round table were they had the opportunity to share their experience and good practices to contribute to the improvement of the maritime economy in the Atlantic regions through transnational cooperation.  

Several other Atlantic projects participated on an exhibition to showcase their innovative concepts and practices. A highlight of this event was the presence of Mrs. Carmela Silva, President of Deputación de Pontevedra in Spain, being an honour to receive her at project IN4.0 stand, giving also the opportunity to meet with the Managing Authority.
