AtlanticSocialLab 4th coordination meeting and study visits at Rennes, took place on the 3rd and 4th of July

The partnership had the opportunity to visit examples of good practices of social innovation in Rennes

The AtlanticSocialLab partnership met on Tuesday at the partner host’s venue, CRESS Bretagne. The first morning begin with an overview provided by DEX and a working session to present a progress report on pilot actions. Afterwards, the partners updated about the mapping exercise, the capitalization plan, the communication plan and the progress of the project.

Study visits focused on social projects took place in the afternoon, starting with Compagnons bâtisseurs, an organisation which assists people in do-it-yourself house renovation. Then on to Ressources T, a social cooperative bringing together a variety of recycling activities involving electrical devices, computers and medical equipment.

On the second day, the partnership had the opportunity to visit Tezea, an initiative to create jobs for long-term unemployed people in a specific rural area (Pipriac et Saint-Ganton). This is a special programme where the public funds usually dedicated to the costs of unemployment are used to create full time, long-term jobs in laundry, recycling, woodcutting, car cleaning, maintenance of green spaces, concierge services etc.

Afterwards, back in Rennes, the project met stakeholders in two examples of good practices in social innovation: Au p'tit blosneur, a district concierge service; and La Grenouille à grande bouche, a participatory restaurant in a disadvantaged area which donates its profits to associations located in the same district.

AtlanticSocialLab aims to contribute to the creation of a Social Innovation Atlantic Ecosystem that shall result in the implementation of new ways and solutions to drive social innovation in the public sector, in the private sector and in NGOs, thanks to transnational cooperation. This project is led by Ayuntamiento de Avilés and brings together partners from the five Member States of the programme.
