AtlaS-WH project organizes the international event "World Heritage Sites in the Atlantic Area"
Promotion of sustainability of the Urban World Heritage Sites
On the next 30th of January, AtlaS-WH project will organize in Porto the international event "World Heritage Sites in the Atlantic Area", with the participation of the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, as well as other experts in the area of promotion and enhacement of the territory. This event also represents the official launch of the project, being the first formal meeting with all the international partners involved in the project.
AtlaS-WH project, lead by Câmara Municipal do Porto, is funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme through the European Regional Development Fund and intends to create a network of urban world heritage sites (WHS) by addressing common challenges related to the protection of their identity, while enhancing their cultural assets, in order to stimulate heritage-led economic and cultural development. The main result will be the sustainability plans for each WHS, by implementing an integrated and participative management and monitoring model, which arises from the common construction of a methodology and the exchange of know-how and best practices.
