Atlantic Social LAB project started with several social innovation initiatives in Vale do Ave (Portugal)
Social Innovation in Europe was the main working subject during the meeting that took place in Famalicão on the 28 and 29 November 2017
During the two days working programme, the partners participated in two local study visits aiming to introduce, discuss and share good practices on participatory strategic planning and social entrepreneurship. At the same time partners assessed the possibility of transferability of those practices within other territories.
The first study visit was implemented in cooperation with the Vila Nova de Famalicão City Hall, through the Strategic Planning and Entrepreneurship Department. The project partners also visited a social private institution, created through a civic group initiative and supported by public funds, the Pedagogic Farm, a social integration project for disabled people.
The partnership still had time to plant a tree, within the framework of an environmental project to tackle reforestation with native tree species (Famalicão - 25.000 trees). The Atlantic Social Lab partnership wishes that this tree grows healthy, in order to ensure that enough oxygen provides a blow of fresh air to the new social innovation ecosystem in the Atlantic Area.
