Interreg Atlantic Area Programme will manage €150 million until 2027
CCDR-Norte assumes, for the 3rd programming period, the management of the next Atlantic Area programme
The North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-Norte) assumes, for the third consecutive programming period, the management of the next Interreg Atlantic Area Programme 2021-2027.
This European territorial cooperation programme has an allocation of approximately 150 million euros and is funded 75% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support projects in 25 regions of 4 Member States: Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland.
The projects, carried out in partnership between public and private organizations, will contribute to improving regional competitiveness and the quality of life of the European Atlantic regions in the areas of "Blue Innovation and Competitiveness", "Blue Environment", "Sustainable Tourism and Culture" and “Governance of the Atlantic Area”.
The next Atlantic Area Programme thus assumes a strong commitment to aligning with European policies, in particular with the strategy for the Blue Economy and the Atlantic Strategy, contributing to achieving the objectives of Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal.
In the 2014-2020 programming period, the Interreg Atlantic Area allocated 178 million euros to 71 territorial cooperation projects, supporting 716 entities from 36 European regions in the areas of innovation and competitiveness, resource efficiency, territorial risks and biodiversity and natural heritage and cultural.
You can read here the summary of the strategy for the next Atlantic Area programme and consult the results of the Public Consultation (April 2021).
