UNESCO highlights ATLAS.WH project as a good practice of cultural management
The focus goes to the thematic study "World Heritage Site experiences in managing Governance, Population and Tourism issues"
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) highlighted ATLAS.WH project (ATLAS World Heritage: Heritage in the Atlantic Area, Sustainability of the urban World Heritage sites) in its latest newsletter "World Heritage Cities Programme - Urban Notebooks" as an innovative good practice.
The focus goes to a deliverable developed under this project, the study World Heritage Site experiences in managing Governance, Population and Tourism issues: Thematic Study on Common Challenges. This study, coordinated by HeReLab, a joint laboratory of the World Heritage Office of the City of Florence and the University of Florence, is a compilation of 24 good practices which analyses and collects international good practices for the mitigation of critical issues that are common to heritage sites such as governance, tourism and population issues.
ATLAS.WH is funded by Interreg Atlantic Area and has a partnership of 5 European cities with World Heritage centers - Porto, Edinburgh, Bordeaux, Santiago de Compostela and Florence. It is led by Câmara Municipal do Porto and has a budget of €1.8M until the end of 2020.
