Interreg Atlantic Area at the European Maritime Day 2019

The event will bring together Europe’s maritime community for two days of networking and knowledge-sharing

Taking place on May 16-17 at the Lisbon Congress Centre, the European Maritime Day conference will gather experts on maritime issues from around the world for workshops, exhibitions and other side events dedicated to sharing good practices, connecting with strategic partners and get insights into new projects.

The Interreg Atlantic Area Programme will join other Interreg maritime funding programmes in the “Knowledge of the Seas network” stand, facilitated by Interact, which will showcase funding opportunities for investment in transnational maritime cooperation. Atlantic Area project SAFER (Smart Atlantic Seafood Clusters) will participate at the conference with the workshop “Seafood as key sector for Blue Growth in the EU Regions” on the 17th of May at 9.00, which will focus on how to improve the competitiveness and performance of the seafood sector, considered as key for blue growth of EU regions, through innovation and technological advancements.

Atlantic Area project @BLUEPORTS will also be at the event. The project will participate in the workshop “Invasive Species and the IMO Ballast Water Convention” on May 16th at 14.00, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention and the environmental risks posed by invasive species. Blue Port will also have stands in the exhibition area to present the various topics covered by the project and will conduct a demonstration of the mobile port based ballast water treatment system “InvaSave”.
