The Monitoring Committee meeting was held in Las Palmas under the 2019 Spanish Presidency of the Programme

The Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme was hosted by Canary Government in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, last 21st March. This meeting, held under the 2019 Spanish Presidency and chaired by the Ministerio de Hacienda, gathered the five Member States, European Commission, Managing Authority, Joint Secretariat and Observers to discuss the current state of play of the Programme and make decisions about the future steps to be taken towards a smooth implementation.

After the meeting, delegates had the opportunity to visit one of the partners of @BluePorts project, Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas, through a guided tour to Puerto de Las Palmas and learn more about the activities developped to improve port based services for the discharge and treatment of ships effluents.

This meeting was preceded by a Ceremony for the signature of the Second Call project contracts, to mark the funding of ERDF 46.7 million Euros allocated by the Programme to 27 cooperation projects that will improve regional competitiveness and the quality of life of citizens in the Atlantic regions.
