Increasing Access to and Effectiveness of Palliative Care for All Citizens in the Atlantic Area
2016-05-27 15:05:08

InAcPall4All is an innovative project aiming at (i) providing a cross-national overview of the needs and practices of end-of-life care and decision-making in the Atlantic Area (AA), (ii) increasing the access to and effectiveness of palliative and end-of-life care for all citizens, and (iii) strengthening the transfer of innovative models of palliative and end-of-life care provision geographically and culturally adapted to the AA. The objectives are: (1) to assess the number of patients who are identified by their attending physicians as being in the final year of life due to a life-threatening disease, hence in need of palliative care, (2) to describe the care provided to these patients, (3) to identify and understand end-of-life decision-making, (4) to implement the use of the Prognostic Indicator Guidance of the Gold Standards Framework Centre in End of Life Care in selected settings in each participant country, (5) to foster the use of the ‘Guide on the decision-making process regarding medical treatment in end-of-life situations’ of the Council of Europe and (6) to stimulate local capacity to transfer and adapt innovative and effective models of palliative and end-of-life care. InAcPall4All will contribute to innovation transfer, facilitating the emergence and local potential of healthcare services and processes. This action will contribute to excellence, competitiveness and cross-fertilization in end-of-life care research, specifically focused on and adapted to the AA.
