GRASSTOPRESERVE
INTELLIGENT MANAGEMENT TO PRESERVE EUROPEAN ATLANTIC NATURAL GRASSLANDS 2016-05-16 11:15:59
Natural, high-valuable grasslands undergo an intense process of change to shrub encroachment or to natural afforestation in most Atlantic regions of Europe, which are related to the global change. The main objective of this project is to connect the current scientific knowledge on different field's science (ethology, fire ecology, herbivory, animal husbandry, plant and soil ecology,...) with the practical operation in order to implement the most appropriate, sustainable practices for ensuring the preservation of the ecosystem services linked to natural grasslands in protected European sites (SCI). By doing this, we expect to experiment and rationalise environmental-friendly practices that guarantee the consolidation of high-valuable Atlantic landscapes, in order to share innovative solutions, and disseminate it at a regional and interregional level.
