Making use of territorial assets in strengthening regional food systems
2016-04-29 15:43:29

To achieve a Multi-stakeholder integrated food policy within partner areas.
The drive towards greater globalisation of the food system has resulted in a marked disarticulation of urban centres from their regional agricultural hinterlands. Throughout the Atlantic Area. the food supply chains supporting towns and cities are increasingly a consequence of the sophisticated logistics operated by corporate retailers that source growing volumes of food from around the world. Meanwhile, European farmers – especially in the Atlantic Area where physical environmental circumstances can be more challenging – find themselves forced to compete in global commodity markets where prices are set by lower cost producers elsewhere.
