Water architecture in Atlantic Area
2016-04-27 11:58:34

The study of hydraulic construction and some exemplary cases, whose growth was supported in water infrastructure, aims to place on record how important is water in Atlantic Area Landscape. Mills, waterwheels, irrigation ditches, ponds or dams shaped the landscape because of they became part of farmland and settlements over the years. In relation to urban water architecture is a main element in urban qualification and makes an undeniable local identity, capable of providing guidelines to territory constructions and cities.
The project aims to study, recover and expose elements of hydraulic heritage in Atlantic area. Arqua proposes to extend the action area and enhance different water constructions within a network, in which particular buildings and hydraulic systems will be included.
